"O Canada" CIC Writers Craft Poetry Students Spring 2012

Great Canada by -Eromosele Okhilua

Great Canada

Our beautiful embraced home

Beautiful environment

With evergreen trees

Sweet scenting flowers

With luscious pastures.

Great Canada

our sweet lovely assumed home

with magnificent people

with their warm embrace, I feel warm in the winter

with their great hospitality, I feel cool in the summer

with the beautiful colours on the trees, I feel overjoyed during fall

Great Canada

with its stunning sights

an exquisite wild life

Great Canada

great and free

the beautiful true north

Espoused Canada, By Iferi Jubi Joseph

Espoused Canada

Not an indigene but my espoused home

Welcomed and accepted by all.

Espoused Canada

How green and wild she is

Flourishing with sons from far and wide

Espoused Canada

Espoused Canada

So privilege we are to be her sons

God preserve thee we pray

Espoused Canada.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME, By Christiana Afeni

Coming into this land as an inexperienced being

But been accepted with warming hands

My adopted home Canada!

A land which there is no face like mine

But still took it as my father’s land

My adopted home Canada!

This land gave me experiences about so many things

That made me gains the whole world

My adopted home Canada!

Without any experience of guilt in me

I would surely stand for my new home

My adopted home Canada!

My New Found Home, -Victory Iferi

So unique from what was once known;

My new found home,

Received with open hands and much love

Nothing more could be asked from me

Treading a land blessed as this,

I am a privileged one.

Taught with kindness and honesty,

Gradually, I’ve learned to be a better person.

My family I once not knew,

My new found home.

Neoteric, Damilola Akinyemi

Canada! Canada!!

Neoteric adopted abode

Different races without racism

She is exquisite

Luminous like a rainbow

Her pitiless blue sky

Diverse mode of worship in a low key

Will serve her land even if it’s not my predecessors

Will one day be part of her?

Canada blessed with fertile grounds

Endowed with the winter, spring, summer and autumn

She gave birth to intelligent off springs

Will make her mine!!!

My Canada, by Shofoluwe Richard

CANADA- COLOURS OF FEELINGS-

IN DIFFERENT SHADES AND CONTRAST

RUNNING WITH THE WIND OF RED STRIPES

WITH CLOUDS MADE OF THE RAINBOW

MIXED FEELINGS

WITH DIFFERENT COLOUR DANCING IN DIFFERENT FORMS,

AN INSTANT IT TURNS PITCH BLACK

THEN WITH AN OUTBURST OF THE SUN RADIANCE

EVERY VIEW OF THE WORLD IN BRIGHTFORM

WITH THE RED GIVING A FEEL OF PARADISE

THE ORANGE LEAVES FORMING A CASTLE

AND THE WARM FEEL OF THE WIND LIKE THE

BLUE SKY,

SILVER STREAKS FROM THE SKY

AND THICK BLACK CLOUDS

THE ONLY THING THAT COLOURED HIS LIFE

WAS FADED AS THE PALE HORSE WHICH ROD BY

TO TAKE HER LIFE,

ALL THING’S BECAME GENESIS

SLOW AND DROWSY IS FADED REND HEAR FEEL

LIFELESS

TO REGAIN JOY REAL HAPPINESS IS INTRODUCED

SPEED! HE CONSUMES & GIVES HIM DELIGHTFUL JOY AND COLOURS

AS HE FLIES INTO THE MADE OF PARADISE

SOON HE STARTS T O REGAIN CONSCIOUSNESS

GREY!

YEARS OF CRUSHED FEELINGS

LIKE GROUND WHEAT

SITUTATIONS BECOME AND EVERYDAY LIFESTYLE

IN THE END LIFE STARTED BEING FAIR

COLOUR THE WAY YOU SEE IT

LIFE YOU COMMAND ITS SHADE

BE THE PAINTER OF YOUR LIFE

Canada, By Samir Kabalan

The land in the North,

Where the heavily blown wind goes forth,

Though the winter freezes the soul,

It has the most beautiful nature of all,

A path to the cold places,

Yet a place full of friendly faces,

Being here in the west,

Gives the comfort of being blessed,

A country of peace,

Here we live in ease,

A nation that’s strong and free,

Forever it will be!
